StarTech.com to Deliver Specialized KVM Switches to Lockheed Martin Switches part of program to update air traffic control centers across the United States
Groveport OH — (June 13, 2005) — StarTech.com has signed a contract valued at approximately $7 million to provide its StarView KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switches to Lockheed Martin over the next three to four years.
StarTech.com will supply two types of KVM switches that will be used by Lockheed Martin as part of its En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) program for the Federal Aviation Administration.
This program will replace the existing U.S. en route air traffic control infrastructure and automation systems to provide a modernized operating environment. ERAM will be implemented at all 20 Air Route Traffic Control Centers across the U.S. responsible for controlling air traffic in en route airspace, above 10,000 feet.
A KVM switch allows multiple computers to be controlled using a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. This functionality improves efficiency by eliminating the need for additional equipment and allowing mission-critical systems to be controlled from a central location. StarTech.com’s KVM switches will bridge the new and existing en route automation systems, allowing instantaneous switching to backup systems.
StarTech.com’s KVM switches for ERAM offer the following enhanced features: - Super high-resolution video capabilities designed to integrate with specialized displays used in control centers - Instantaneous switching between systems - Specialized ports to allow the integration of existing systems with newer technology
“StarTech.com’s selection as the manufacturer of this component resulted from outstanding engineering capabilities and our ability to meet Lockheed Martin’s specifications within strict time constraints,” said StarTech.com President Paul Seed. “StarTech.com’s innovative R&D resources and our commitment to quality control in the manufacturing process was a winning combination.”
The total value of this contract is approximately $7 million dollars and calls for the delivery of approximately 3000 of the specialized KVM switches to Lockheed Martin over the next three to four years. The roll-out is scheduled to begin later this year.
