| Bluetooth is a Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) that is an open standard for short range broadcast and transmission of digital voice and data. Bluetooth supports data transfers of up to 720 Kbps with a short range of up to ten meters (Class 2) and a long range of up to 100 meters (Class 1). Bluetooth’s WPAN uses omni-directional radio waves (the devices do not have to point at one another in a line of sight to function) that can pass through walls and other non-metal barriers. Some devices that use Bluetooth technology include mobile (cellular) phones, computers, and personal digital assistants (PDAs).
