Course 3: Audio/Video

Introduction to A/V

The terms Audio/Video, Audio-Visual, and A/V (for short), are broadly used terms used to describe technology relating to sight and sound. While the terms are used generically in many cases, our focus for Course 3 will be based on the application of A/V equipment used in professional settings in a “convergence” environment.

Referring to the convergence of IT and AV technologies into a singular technology, “Convergence” is an industry term denoting a series of audio and video devices including signal splitters, switches, amplifiers, scalers and converters that are used to process and distribute audio and video signals suitable to individual application needs.
