IEEE-1394 Card

IEEE-1394 is the standard for FireWire connection. FireWire is a high speed serial bus used mainly for the transfer of video/audio files from digital media devices onto the computer via FireWire cable. IEEE-1394b can provide speeds of 800, 1600, and 3200 Mbps and increases cable distance to 100 meters. The IEEE-1394 FireWire card supports multiple speeds on the same bus, as well as hot swapping and isochronous data transfer (which can guarantee bandwidth for multimedia operations). There are three main connectors for FireWire connection: a 4-pin version mainly used for laptops, a 6-pin socket used for desktops computers, and a 9-pin version for the faster FireWire 800.
