Glossary of Technical Terms

CardBus is a term used to describe a 32-bit PCMCIA expansion card form factor used in conjunction with notebook computers in order to create an interface that allows interchangeable connectivity with a wide array of peripheral hardware. CardBus permits similar functions to those offered by I/O expansion cards used in a desktop computer, while providing a 32-bit data transfer path, DMA (Direct Memory Access) support and reduced voltage requirements.
