PCMCIA Serial Card

A Serial PC Card or Serial Port Adapter is a device used to allow serial peripherals to be connected to a host computer, even in the event that no serial ports are available on the host computer. While the term Serial Port Adapter can be used to describe a broad variety of adapter types, including PCI, PCI Express, USB, CardBus, ExpressCard, etc., a PCMCIA Serial Card refers to a PCMCIA add-on card that has been physically installed on a computer to allow connections to serial peripherals.
