High Speed Serial Port

Older serial ports are notorious for being slow; the RS-232 serial standard is limited to 20, 000 bits per second. However, the high speed serial ports offered by many popular personal computers allow settings up to 115200 bits per second (115.2 kbps). High speed serial ports are also offered through high speed serial PCI cards, which are often offered to provide four or eight ports.
