How do I mount a VHD or disk image to transfer files between the connected computers with the included software?

The USB crash cart adapter has the ability to transfer files. A virtual hard disk (VHD) or disc image (ISO) is hosted on the client computer (running the USB crash cart software) and can be mounted using the USB crash cart software. The host computer views the virtual disk as a generic USB storage device. When the virtual disk is mounted, it is only accessible by the host computer.

Note: Video capture will block file transfer functionality. If a virtual disk/image is mounted, video capture will be blocked.

To create and mount a VHD with the USB crash cart software:

  1. Click File Transfer -> Disk Control.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the size of the image in Megabytes or Gigabytes (e.g. 1024 MB, 20 GB).
  4. Select a location and name for the VHD and click Save.
  5. Click Insert.

The drive is now mounted and ready for use on the host computer.

Note: The file system for the VHD is FAT32. This limits the maximum size of the drive to 2TB for most operating systems.  FAT32 also has an individual file size limit of 4GB.

To mount a disk image:

  1. Click File Transfer -> Disk Control.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. Select the ISO on the client computer and click Open.
  4. Click Insert.

The drive is now mounted and ready for use on the host computer.
