Overview

The RACKCOND17HD Dual Rail LCD Rack Console lets you control server equipment from a centralized, 17in 1080p KVM console, with an integrated 2-port front USB hub and fingerprint reader.

The dual-rail system allows the display to slide independently from the keyboard/touchpad tray, enabling you to use the console as a monitoring station while the keyboard is stored in the rack.

The integrated single port KVM module offers universal support for DVI or VGA, and USB or PS/2 console connections and includes all of the necessary cabling to get you up and running. Connect the console to either a single system, or a multi-port KVM switch to manage multiple systems. Plus, the front panel USB hub places two easily accessible USB 2.0 ports at your disposal for connecting external storage and other peripherals as needed.

This rackmount LCD also includes a physical key-lock and a bio-metric fingerprint reader to provide an extra layer of security in your server room. The fingerprint reader can be configured for access control, application/file launching and also to create and access virtual secure storage drives for different users.

Backed by a StarTech.com 2-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before You Buy

Digital Visual Interface (DVI) is a video display interface that can contain different types of signaling, based on the application. DVI cables and ports are created using different connector types to identify what application they are intended to be used in. The connector types are identified by the number of pins on the DVI connector. DVI comes in the following five different connector types:

Single and Dual link DVI indicate the maximum resolution capabilities of the video source or video destination. The maximum resolutions are Single Link (1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz) and Dual Link (2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz).

Note: The maximum resolution of your video source and video destination are ultimately determined by the technical specifications of the devices. The connector type is not a definitive indicator of the maximum resolution.

DVI-A carries only analog (for example, VGA) with no digital component. DVI-D carries only digital video (for example, HDMI) with no analog component. DVI-I combines DVI-A and DVI-D connections to include both analog and digital components. A DVI-I port may be on either your video source or display, but whether or not a display carries either or both analog and digital sources depends on the technical specifications of your device.

Troubleshooting

When you troubleshoot issues with a rack console, there are some quick tests that you can complete to rule out potential problems. You can test to make sure that the following components are working correctly and are not the source of the issue:

  • Video cables
  • Video source
  • Monitor
  • USB/PS2 cables

Before you test the components, make sure that the rack console is properly mounted to a rack. For more information, see the documentation that came with the rack console.

To test your setup components, try the following:

  • Use the video cables, video source, monitor, and USB/PS2 cable(s) in another setup to see if the problem is with the components or the setup.
  • Use a different video cable, video source, monitor, and USB/PS2 cable(s) in your setup to see if the problem persists. Ideally, you should test a component that you know works in another setup.

Note: When testing with a different keyboard, mouse, and monitor, connect the devices directly to your computer.

When you test your cables, it is recommended that you do the following:

  • Test each cable individually.
  • Use short cables, with the least amount of adapters.

When you test the video cables, video source, and monitor, it is recommended that you do the following:

  • Use a resolution that is compatible with the monitor and any KVM switches that you may use.
  • When a KVM switch is used with the rack console, make sure that you selected the correct source.

If some of the sources are working but not others, you may be experiencing issues with the KVM switch in your setup. For more information, see the KVM Troubleshooting FAQ.
