Hard Drive Tray

A hard drive tray is a plastic or metal frame into which hard drives are installed for use as removable storage. As opposed to fastening the drive to the case, the drive is attached to the tray, which is removable/ejectable. Some hard drive trays are used in conjunction with a caddy, which may offer hot-swap capability, allowing connection/disconnection of the caddy and/or drive without shutting down the system with which you are using the hard drive.
