The S2510U2WF WiFi/USB to SATA Hard Drive Enclosure is a unique combination of wireless external storage device and wireless access point (AP) in one, enabling you to access data over a WiFi connection or a USB 2.0 connection (as a normal 2.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD enclosure), or create a local wireless hot spot with a shared hard drive (NAS). Large capacity drives (tested with up to 1TB) can be used to greatly enhance your computer's storage/backup capabilities.
The perfect solution for users who are on the road and need a simple way to create their own portable wireless LAN (WLAN), the WiFi enclosure enables you to turn a hardwired Internet connection into a wireless access point for networking laptops or netbooks or Personal Electronic Devices such as iPad® tablets, iPhone®, Android® smartphones or devices. While connected, users can access data on the enclosed hard drive, making it easier and more secure to share files with multiple computers at the same time over FTP, SMB or a dedicated web interface.
How it works - Access Point Mode:
In Access Point Mode, the S2510U2WF will act as a Wireless Access Point (WAP), enabling computers/smartphones/tablets to connect to it wirelessly. All connected clients will be able to access the data and resources on the S2510U2WF. If the S2510U2WF is connected directly to an Internet-enabled router/switch/broadband modem, all connected clients will have Internet access as well.
How it works - Client Mode:
In Client Mode, the S2510U2WF will act as a wireless adapter for a host computer through a standard Ethernet port. This enables you to wirelessly connect to an existing Wireless Access Point (WAP), while having access to the data and resources on the S2510U2WF.
