Frequently Asked Questions

Before You Buy

Passively converting from PS/2 to USB or USB to PS/2 is only possible with mice and keyboards that are compatible with both PS/2 and USB connections. The following are two ways to determine if these products will work for you:

  • Look on the bottom of your mouse or keyboard for a PS/2 symbol or picture, and a USB symbol or picture.
  • Your mouse or keyboard came with a similar PS/2 to USB or USB to PS/2 adapter.

You can use the USBPS2PC to actively convert PS/2 keyboards and mice to USB.

Note: StarTech.com PS/2 adapters are only officially supported by mice and keyboards.

Just the right adapter

By: Bruno - 05/18/2017
I built a new computer and the newer models do not use the DIN connectors so this works just fine instead of buying another keyboard

Does not work

By: TonyWar - 09/08/2020
It was supposed to work out of the box, it did not. Upon plugging it into the port, it read "last usb device plugged not recognized" or something like that. The ad where I bought it didn't say anything about this. I am returning it.

Hello, Thank you for your review. This product is a replacement adapter for keyboards that originally shipped with a PS/2-USB converter. If your keyboard did not originally come with an adapter like this, we would suggest our USBPS2PC which is an active PS/2-USB adapter. If you require any assistance, please feel free to connect with us via phone or the Live Chat option on our website.
