The USB-C multiport adapter uses your USB-C laptop’s power adapter and can provide up to 100W Power Delivery (3.0) pass through with up to 85W for your host device for charging. The remaining wattage will power the docking station along with any attached USB-A peripherals such as smartphones and tablets.
The multi-stream transport technology (MST) in this dock powers two HDMI monitors with no driver installation required so you are up and running faster.
The DK30C2HAGPD, includes a free Windows® application that enables you to better manage your enterprise network security. When you connect to your network through the ethernet port of the dock, the computer’s MAC address is typically not broadcast to the network, as your network only sees the MAC address of the docking station. However, the StarTech.com MAC Address Changer or Cloning software enables the USB-C dock to use MAC address spoofing of the connected Windows laptop rather than the MAC address of the dock itself. This ensures your network administrators have full visibility of each device on the network and can monitor and limit activity accordingly. To request access to our MAC Address Changer utility, please contact our Technical Support Department by phone, live chat, or e-mail.

Special Notes / Requirements | System and Cable Requirements | A host laptop with an available USB-C port (to ensure full adapter functionality, the host USB-C port must support USB Power Delivery 2.0 or PD 3.0 and DP alt mode) |
Note | For a dual-monitor configuration the host laptop must support MST.
Not all USB-C ports support the full functionality of the USB Type-C standard. Ensure that your host USB-C port supports USB Power Delivery 2.0 or 3.0 and DP alt mode.
System and Cable Requirements | Optional: USB-C power adapter (for example, your laptop’s USB-C based power adapter)
Note | The adapter can connect to a host laptop’s USB-C port that doesn’t support USB Power Delivery 2.0 or 3.0. However, in this configuration if a power adapter is connected to the multifunction adapter, it will not pass power through to your host laptop.
The multiport adapter provides limited Chrome support (no MST support; Ethernet only when using bus power).
The multiport adapter provides limited Android support (no MST support).
A 4K-capable display is required to achieve 3840 x 2160p resolution (4K is also known as 4K x 2K)
Video output capabilities are dependent on the video card and hardware specification of your connected laptop.
USB 3.0 is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1; this connectivity standard offers speeds up to 5Gbps.
Your laptop may have specific requirements for charging. This USB-C multiport adapter supports USB Power Delivery 3.0, up to 100W. When using your laptop’s USB-C power adapter, the multiport adapter powers both the adapter (with attached peripherals) and your laptop - with up to 85W charging available for laptop charging. For more information on your laptop’s charging requirements, refer to the manufacturer of your laptop.
Through support of USB Power Delivery 3.0, the multiport adapter supports Fast Role Swap which prevents USB data disruption when you unplug to switch power sources (USB-C power adapter to bus power).
In USB 3.0 mode, the maximum Ethernet speed is 1000 Mbps. In USB 2.0 mode, the maximum Ethernet speed is 100 Mbps.

To install the driver:
Note: Windows will typically save the files to the Downloads folder that is associated with your user account (for example, C:\Users\your_name\Downloads).
Note: If the Run as Administrator option is not available, you might be attempting to run the installer from within the zipped file. Extract the files using the instructions in Step 2.
Sometimes an on-board network interface card (NIC) conflicts with a new NIC. In these cases it is best to disable the on-board NIC.
The best way to disable your on-board NIC is to go into your BIOS and disable it there if possible. To do this, consult your motherboard manual.
You can also disable any NIC in Windows. Here is how you do this:
First click Start, or, in Windows 10 and 8, hold down the Windows key and press X. Then click Control Panel.

If you are experiencing flickering issues with the MST hub, your monitors may be at a 59 Hz refresh rate. If they are at 59 Hz, you need to adjust the refresh rate to 60 Hz. In order to change your monitor's refresh rate, complete the following:
Note: This step may vary depending on your operating system and graphics card.
By default, most systems will duplicate to multiple displays when a MST hub is attached. If you are getting mirrored displays and cannot detect more than one display in Screen Resolution or Display Settings, your graphics card may not be compatible with MST. For more information about how to determine if your graphics card is MST compatible, refer to the following FAQ: https://www.startech.com/faq/mst-hubs-gpu-compatibility.
If you are using a version of Mac OSX, refer to the following FAQ for more information: https://www.startech.com/faq/mst-hubs-mac-osx-support.
When you troubleshoot issues with a laptop docking station, there are some quick tests that you can complete to rule out potential problems. You can test to make sure that the following components are working correctly and are not the source of the issue:
Video cables
Video source
Video destination
Laptop docking station
USB peripherals
Ethernet connection
To test your setup components, try the following:
Use the video cables, video source, video destination, laptop docking station, USB peripherals, and Ethernet connection in another setup to see if the problem is with the components or the setup.
Use a different video cable, video source, video destination, laptop docking station, USB peripherals, and Ethernet connection setup to see if the problem persists. Ideally, you should test a component that you know works in another setup.
When you test your cables, it is recommended that you do the following:
Test each cable individually.
Use short cables when you are testing.
When you test the video cables, video source, video destination, and laptop docking station it is recommended that you do the following:
Press the Windows key + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter to open Device Manager.
If you do not see the USB video adapter in Device Manager, refer to the following FAQ: https://www.startech.com/support/faqs/technical-support?topic=expansion-cards#usb-cannot-detect-windows.
If the device is listed with an error, reinstall the drivers following the instructions on the website.
Check to see if your video card drivers are current. You can check what video card you have in Device Manager under Display adapters. It is recommended that you go directly to the video card manufacturer's website to check for the latest drivers.
Check to see if the monitor is being detected by Windows.

Recent versions of DisplayPort include the ability to split to multiple displays from one DisplayPort connection using Multi-Stream Transport (MST).
Although you will be able to connect the MST hub to the Mini DisplayPort (mDP) connection on your Mac, Mac OSX does not support MST for NVIDIA and Intel Graphics Processor Units (GPUs). This results in a mirrored image across the outputs of a MST hub and you will not be able to have multiple independent displays on your Mac.
The limitation of NVIDIA and Intel GPUs lies within Mac OSX. If a different operating system is used, such as Microsoft Windows via Bootcamp, you may be able to use the MST functionality of your Mac.
Yes, you can use this laptop docking station to charge a laptop computer.
For more information on what the requirements are and about how much power this laptop docking station provides, refer to the product manual.
This USB-C device requires that all of the following components support alternate modes:
If your host device includes a Thunderbolt™ 3 connection, this USB-C device will work with your host device.
For more information about the modes that your setup components support, refer to the information provided by the manufacturers.
