Before You Buy

Although M.2 SSDs come in similar form factors, only an M.2 SATA drive with an NGFF B key will operate with this device. M.2 drives that are PCIe or have a different key position are not compatible with this device.

This device can adapt an M.2 SATA drive to standard SATA connections, which is not possible for a PCIe based M.2 drive. The key type refers to the connector type on the M.2 SATA drive. B key can be M.2 PCIe x2 or SATA, so it is important that you check the specifications of the drive to see if it supports SATA.

Our customer's experience with our products is incredibly important to us and we apologize that our SAT32M225 is not working with your Sabrent Rocket M.2 SSD. This adapter is only compatible with SATA-based M.2 SSDs and does not work with NVMe based SSDs which is why you're seeing issues fitting your drive into the adapter. Unfortunately at this time, we do not have an NVMe to SATA adapter but our M2E1BMU31C converts an NVMe SSD to USB. If you have any questions or require any assistance, please feel free to contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

Worked great to replace older 2.5" drive with SSD

By: RMilk - 09/16/2020
Bought one of these to use a WD SA500 M.2 SATA SSD. Worked flawlessly in MacOS and Windows 10. Nearly 600 MB/s throughput, which matches peak spec from WD. Simple to install, slim-line 7mm tall 2.5" frame gives drop-in replacement. Note - it does NOT work for M.2 NVMe/PCIe! Be sure to look at the pictures where it shows you the M.2 keying that it supports!

Works great with a WD120 M.2 SATA SSD

By: misterbiggles - 01/13/2021
Had to get this as my other M.2 adapter only works with M.2 NVMe SSD devices, and i needed something that worked with M.2 SATA SSD devices. This works fine. The PCB could be attached better to the metal frame as it flexes quite a bit at one end, but only an issue when installing the device.

Must be defective

By: DAN3 - 12/22/2021
My computer does not recognize this adapter, I'm running windows 10 premium and all drivers are up to date. I have a Samsung 1terabyte NGFF 2280 memory card in it and nothing happens when I plug it into my usb port with or without the Samsung Memory card installed in it. My computer does not show it even in the disk management tool for windows. I searched for drivers at the Mfg. home page and can't find any. So I guess Im stuck with a lemon, at least it didn't cost a lot. Just to let you know, may or may not work for you.
