(4 stars) Works great after screen roulette finishes

By: locus123
No issues when it's working. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason when plugging it in to a Macbook on whether the external monitors will come back in the same rotation or not. Usually flipping the cable over or closing the laptop screen before plugging in will fix it. It's a small annoyance, but otherwise the dock works great.

(1 star) Don't waste your time. DP no worky!

By: THEO
Tried replacing a Dell WD19TB with the StarTech TB3DK2DHV. After 1.5 hours, 7 cables, and two operating systems, couldn't get the StarTech to work using DisplayPort and two monitors. Only TWICE was I able to get just ONE monitor working. Checked drivers, firmware, settings, cables, verified both monitors set to DP 1.2, to no avail. Plugged the Dell WD19TB back in and BAM! It worked the first time. StarTech usually knocks it out of the park, so rather bummed about this one. Connecting to Windows 10 on Gigabyte Aero 15 XA laptop.

Hello Theo, It's important to us that our customers have a positive experience with our products and we're sorry to hear that our TB3DK2DHV isn't working for you. This dock should work with the Gigabyte Aero 15 XA as long as it's connected to the Thunderbolt 3 port and we'd be happy to help get this working properly. If you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

(3 stars) It looked so promising

By: kenny
And it looked so promising... Bought as a trial of a multi platform dock before buying a crate-load to place on drop in workbench spaces for my users to be able to turn up and use screens and ethernet from any USBC Mac/Windows/Linux laptop. The dual screens are great. But the ethernet port does not work. Driver from the website complains this OS is too new. The product pages mentioned it was working under Catalina. OS Compatibility Windows® 7, 8, 8.1, 10 macOS 10.12 - 10.15 When will drivers be available? Will the drivers be available? Or is the hardware never going to work under 10.15+?

Hello Kenny, We pride ourselves on our high-quality standards and are sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with our TB3DK2DHV. This dock is natively supported in macOS 10.14 and 10.15 so no extra drivers are needed. It's possible that macOS may have incorrectly added the Ethernet on the dock as a Thunderbolt Bridge or Thunderbolt adapter. We recommend checking your network preferences, disabling those if you see them and then adding a new interface, ensuring you choose "Thunderbolt Ethernet" and this should allow the dock to work properly again. If you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at www.startech.com/uk/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

(3 stars) Works fine out of the box.. its just ..

By: AGJH
Work issued this dock with a 2019 MacBook Pro. The dock worked fine out of the box, its just Startech supplying a 50cm cable is very amateur hour. I try to maintain a clean work surface with under routing for cables, however the supplied cable is so short that it "almost" forces you to stick this nasty little box on your desk. If I actually paid money for this dock, I would be extremely mad at their choice of supplying a 50cm cable ?@!

Response from StarTech.com:
Matt, Customer Support
Thank you for sharing your review of our TB3DK2DHV. The reason that we include a shorter cable with the dock is because Thunderbolt 3 cables longer than 50cm need to be active or they only reach a maximum bandwidth of 20Gbps instead of the needed 40Gbps for dual 4K 60Hz displays. If you're looking for a longer cable and you need the full 40Gbps, our TBLT3MM1MA is a 3-foot active Thunderbolt 3 cable and if you only need 20Gbps, our TBLT3MM1M is a 3-foot passive Thunderbolt 3 cable. If you have any questions or require any assistance, you can reach us at www.startech.com/support. Our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

(2 stars) Drivers won't install

By: anne1704
Work issued this dock for my Macbook Pro running Mojave 10.14.6. When trying to install the drivers I get the message "this driver can't be installed because your version of macOS is too new." So I guess I have a new paperweight?

We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with our TB3DK3DHV. Most of the features on this dock are plug-and-play in Windows but the network port needs a driver to function properly in Windows. If you require assistance installing this driver we'd be happy to help. (1 star) Set-up nightmare

By: WillyD73
My company bought this for me in addition to 2 monitors and a laptop with a USB-C port. I can’t find step by step installation instructions anywhere. Who can help me out of this nightmare?

Response from StarTech.com:
Matt, Customer Support
We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with our TB3DK2DHV. As long as your laptop has Thunderbolt 3, it should plug into the single Thunderbolt 3 port on the front of the dock and then everything else plugs into the back. If you require assistance, please feel free to contact us at www.startech.com/support. Our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

(1 star) Not worked as expected

By: batista
- VGA signal produces waves on screen at 1920x1200 @60Hz (with the same cable and monitor that works well with other PC) - Mouse and keyboard disconnects intermittently when external SSD requires bandwith + Power delivery works + Build quality

Sam, Customer Support
Thank you for your feedback on TB3DK2DHV. We're sorry for the issues you came across with it and hope to help. If you're using a wireless mouse and keyboard, connecting a USB 3 external drive may cause interference with the wireless signal. This is common across all USB 3.0 peripherals and devices that use 2.4GHz wireless signals. To address this problem, you could use something like a simple USB extension cable to move the transceiver further away from the USB port. We'd like to get some more details about the video issues you've had so we can help provide a fix. Please reach out to our Technical Advisors at www.startech.com/support. We're available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, to provide support.

(4 stars) Good features - easy install

By: McBee
Company provided this for my Mac Pro (2018) and it works well except - the install software will not work on my macOS Mojave 10.14.4. I will still recommend this as a good solution for adding addional monitors to the Mac.

Simple enough to plug and go. Only issue is that it doesn't power my Mac as advertised. But it's not an inconvenience to plug in the dock and the Mac charger.
