Lockbourne, OH - August 17, 2016 - will release of one of the industry’s first WiGig docking stations, for availability in early Q4 2016. This docking station features the new industry standard, WiGig technology and implemented by Intel® Wireless Gigabit, enabling a performance-driven workspace that is both convenient and clutter-free.

WiGig technology streamlines the connection between laptops and a docking station, cutting the need for cables and user intervention to connect to displays and peripherals, saving time and eliminating workspace clutter. Newer laptops are coming with fewer and fewer ports, making it more difficult to connect to multiple peripheral devices, like setting up two or more monitors. A WiGig docking station solves this problem by introducing the seamless solution of wireless connectivity between a laptop and these displays and peripherals, allowing users to experience fast and convenient transitions between laptop mobility and workstation productivity.

Another unique feature of this dock is the inclusion of a USB-C port. This feature is especially beneficial to early adopters who may have a USB-C enabled laptop that is not equipped with WiGig capabilities. An investment in a WiGig docking station allows users to stay on the cutting edge of technology without the expense of replacing a docking station every time they upgrade their laptop.

The "hybrid" nature lets users connect two ways: wirelessly via WiGig or through a wired (USB) connection. The hybrid functionality of this dock makes it one of the industry's first truly universal docking stations. Users can connect any PC be it equipped with WiGig, USB-C, Thunderbolt or even to legacy systems with a Mini DisplayPort and USB-A connection (using a Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 to USB-C adapter that is coming soon). The universality of the docking station is particularly valuable in shared office environments where a multitude of users can easily connect to monitors and peripherals, maximizing productivity even at temporary workstations.

In addition to WiGig and USB-C device feeds, this docking station also features a robust I/O profile including connections for HDMI®, DisplayPort, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet and audio. The “hybrid” dock is an advanced universal docking station, as it will allow any WiGig enabled PC to connect to it with USB-C, Thunderbolt™ or even legacy connection possibilities. Single connection docking solutions, like the WiGig dock, in a shared office environment will allow the use of monitors and peripherals.
