  • Mini DisplayPort or HDMI video output
  • Dual monitor support when using HDMI + Thunderbolt Display
  • Gigabit Ethernet, Audio, 3x USB 3.0 ports with UASP, includes 1m Thunderbolt cable

The TBDOCKHDPBC Thunderbolt™ Docking Station gives you a single connection point to your home / office workstation, for a flexible setup with formidable speed. Adding Thunderbolt and HDMI video outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB 3.0 hub and 3.5mm audio ports to your Thunderbolt-equipped laptop has never been easier.

Single Connection

Start working faster! The Thunderbolt dock reduces the hassle of connecting a typical laptop workstation by leaving your entire peripheral set connected to the dock. Through a single connection to your laptop (e.g. MacBook Pro®, MacBook Air® or Ultrabook™), you can be up-and-running in seconds.

Get connected right away with the included high-quality 1m Thunderbolt cable, saving you time and money.

Flexible Setup

Experience a tidy and customizable workspace with a small footprint and included optional stand, so you can place the Thunderbolt dock either horizontally or vertically.

Connect more of your USB peripherals through the integrated 3-port USB 3.0 controller. External USB 3.0 hard drives benefit from the smooth response and faster data transfer rates provided by UASP. Older USB peripherals aren't a problem either, with USB 2.0/1.1 backward-compatibility.

Formidable Speed

Increase your overall system performance with a dedicated controller for onboard I/O handling, freeing up system resources. With data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps, Thunderbolt technology simultaneously supports a high-resolution display and high-performance data devices through a single interface, plus you can daisy-chain up to 6 devices (Thunderbolt 1 and 2 compatible) for maximum connectivity.

Expand your screen real estate and increase productivity, using the integrated monitor outputs. With support for resolutions up to 1920x1080 (HDMI) and 2560x1440 (Thunderbolt / Mini DisplayPort), the dock provides several options to add external HD displays.

Backed by a StarTech.com 3-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Note: When using a single display, the dock lets you connect one HDMI, DisplayPort or Thunderbolt monitor. The Thunderbolt™ interface on the dock is backward compatible with Mini DisplayPort and when connected to a DisplayPort monitor, only a single display can be added as HDMI will be disabled. For dual display configurations, you can connect one HDMI monitor and one Thunderbolt monitor simultaneously.

Troubleshooting

Sometimes an on-board network interface card (NIC) conflicts with a new NIC.  In these cases it is best to disable the on-board NIC.

The best way to disable your on-board NIC is to go into your BIOS and disable it there if possible.  To do this, consult your motherboard manual.

You can also disable any NIC in Windows.  Here is how you do this:

First click Start, or, in Windows 10 and 8, hold down the Windows key and press X.  Then click Control Panel.

Windows 10

  1. Click Network and Internet.
  2. Click Network and Sharing Center.
  3. On the left, click Change adapter settings.
  4. Right-click the NIC that you would like to disable and select Disable.

Windows 8

  1. Click Network and Sharing Center.
  2. On the left, click Change adapter settings.
  3. Right-click the NIC that you would like to disable and select Disable.

Windows 7

  1. Click Network and Internet.
  2. Click Network and Sharing Center.
  3. On the left, click Change adapter settings.
  4. Right-click the NIC that you would like to disable and select Disable.

Windows Vista

  1. Click Network and Sharing Center.
  2. On the left, click Manage network connections.
  3. Right-click the NIC that you would like to disable and select Disable.

Windows XP

  1. Click Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the NIC that you would like to disable and select Disable.

How To

To confirm that Windows detects your USB device, complete the following:

  1. Press the Windows key+R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.
  2. In Device Manager, under the appropriate heading, confirm that your expansion card is listed and that there isn't an exclamation mark next to it.  For example, a USB controller card would be under Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Your USB device is listed according to the name of the chipset. To determine the name of the chipset of your USB device, navigate to www.StarTech.com and look on the Technical Specifications tab for your product.

To confirm that the Mac OS detects your USB device, complete the following:

  1. Click the Apple icon.
  2. Click About This Mac.
  3. Click More Info or System Report.
  4. Under the appropriate heading, confirm that your USB device is listed and that there isn't an error. For example, a network card would be under Ethernet Cards.

You may need to refresh the System Information page after you plug in your device.  To do so, press Command R with the System Information page open.

Your USB device is listed according to the name of the chipset. To determine the name of the chipset of your USB device, navigate to www.StarTech.com and look on the Technical Specifications tab for your product.

Fantastic little device

By: ellery - 03/08/2014
This thing is amazing and I glad I got it... the only reason I knocked down 1 star is because the Ethernet drivers do not support OS X 10.9 yet.

I've just managed to get this working. I've a MBP which didn't start working with the adapter initially - despite showing it correctly in the system report (Look for I210 under ethernet). I had an online chat with the startech support. They recommended adding the 'Thunderbolt Ethernet Slot' in network preference - which I'd already done. My network connection was showing as 'not connected'. They suggested changing the IPv4 from DHCP to Off applying that and then switching it back to DHCP. Which didn't work. Then they suggested removing the interface, applying the changes. Adding the ethernet interface again and leaving it set as DHCP. I did this and surpisingly after a little delay it did work and gave itself a self assigned IP. Hoping it will continue to work now.

It appears some models are not working correctly. The device I have is detected by Mac OS 10.9.4, but claims the network is unplugged. I haven't installed the old drivers and the network connection works fine when booted into windows.

Ethernet still does not work for me. Had a chat with support, but still not functional. Currently only able to use wifi at work, OSX 10.9.4 here.

We are seeing that some MBP/Retina/Mavericks systems work (plug n play) with the ethernet adapter and others do not. A case was opened with Startech and they could not figure out the issue. The drivers provide by the manufacturer were not installed on any of them.

I think you're confused. You don't need drivers for 10.9 ethernet. For 10.9, this device is plug-and-play. The drivers are now included with the OS.

Good Dock, but limitations on dual display

By: JasonUK35 - 04/02/2014
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago to add dual monitors to my MacBook Pro 13 inch late 2011 (i5 8GB). I checked that the dock supported dual monitors, however your second monitor needs to be a Thunderbolt Monitor, you can't use an Display-Port/Thunder Port Adaptor to connect to a second monitor and have both the HDMI connected and the Adaptor connected monitor. The dock will support one or the other, as the HDMI port is a mini-port to HDMI port adaptor. This port is not a way to convert a cheaper monitor into a Thunder Port Monitor. It does add USB3 to my MAC, I used a StarTech USB32DVIPRO to connect the second monitor, this works fine through the Dock, although Mavericks has a few issues with updating the USB monitor. The other behaviour I have noticed about the Dock, is that it is not great at coming out of sleep mode when my Mac goes to sleep, I have needed to unplug and replug the dock. If you do not replug in the dock, I found that the Web Content Processes went crazy stealing 100% CPU, I think Mavericks struggles with an external pan port when the Mac wakes from sleep. Make sure that you if you are running Mavericks you DO NOT install the drivers on the supplied disk, it trashed my network configuration, and I had to reinstall Mavericks. I should have read the disclaimer more carefully, so this is more of a warning. Mavericks picks up the drivers automatically and this worked really well. I also tried out the Dock+USB Video in boot camp running Windows 7 64 bit. This worked well, but remember to plug in the dock when you boot into Boot Camp, otherwise the Mac/Windows does not detect the Dock and doesn't then install the drivers. I have not tried the sound ports, the HDMI will support sound output if you are connecting it to a TV/device that supports sound output. Good product, I wish the HDMI port acted as a Thunderbolt display so I could connect 2 monitors with out buying an expensive TB monitor, that said the USB solution works ok, so long as you are not gaming or playing video (on the USB) The main problem is multi-monitor support in Mavericks.

Good product, bad driver or instruction

By: musicscopeharry - 06/04/2014
This is a very useful versatile docking station with some improvements needs to be done. It makes your Macbook works like a desktop work station but... 1. It does not like been connected while powering up. Will make you think the Macbook is crashed. You NEED to power up first and then connect the thunderbolt cable. 2. Do NOT install the Intel driver came with the unit if you have Mavericks. My Macbook becomes unusable, no network, no internet, no access to my Time Machine for restore. I am stocked here waiting for Startech's solution. Would have given a four stars if not for the misleading Intel driver in the DVD

Handy!

By: Siddhartha - 01/28/2015
The only drawback is that I can't use this for dual monitors unless one of them is a thunderbolt port one. So I had to plug that one directly into my mac
