The SDOCK2U33RE Dual 2.5/3.5" SATA HDD/SSD duplicator dock lets you duplicate/clone an existing hard drive without the use of a host computer system -- or dock and swap drives from your desktop or laptop computer simultaneously, using a single USB or eSATA port.

Versatile Features

The SDOCK2U33RE offers convenient dual-function performance. As a hard drive duplicator, the SDOCK2U33RE lets you create an exact sector-by-sector clone from one hard drive to another, including partitions and boot sector information -- ensuring data integrity and consistency for sensitive operations, such as data recovery. As an external hard drive dock the SDOCK2U33RE lets you connect your drives through either eSATA or USB, with each drive slot individually supporting high capacity 2.5/3.5" hard drives or solid state drives, tested up to 4 TB.

Fast Performance

With support for SATA III (6 Gbps) you can maximize efficiency with duplication speeds up to 22 GB per minute, and eSATA docking speeds up to 6 Gbps. The Dock can also be connected through USB 3.0 with UASP for transfer speeds up 5 Gbps (70% faster than conventional USB 3.0). See our UASP testing results below for further details.

Hassle-free Operation

With push button operation and plug-and play installation, the duplicator dock has been specially designed for hassle-free operation.  The SDOCK2U33RE lets you quickly dock your hard drives or start duplicating hard drives with the push of a button. Plus, the built-in LED progress bar saves you time by letting you easily monitor the entire duplication process, so you'll  know exactly when it's time to start your next operation.

For added compatibility with different drive types in duplication and docking applications, the SDOCK2U33RE supports the use of various drive adapters. The below list of adapters have been specifically tested, to ensure compatibility with this drive duplicator:

2.5/3.5in IDE drives - SAT2IDEADP
mSATA drives - SAT2MSAT25
M.2 (NGFF) drives - SAT32M225

SDOCK2U33RE is backed by a 2-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Improved Performance with UASP

UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or above), and Linux. In testing, UASP performs with a 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed over traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ensure there is no USB cable connecting the duplicator to a computer.

  1. The drive may be damaged. Test with a known-working drive, or test the drive directly to a PC.
  2. The operating system on the computer may not support reading and writing to the file system on the docked hard drive or SSD.  Remember, Windows cannot read Mac or Linux file systems. Also, macOS can read but not write to NTFS drives.
  3. If the drives came from a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), they would not be accessible in our docking stations.
  4. If the drive uses 4Kn sectors, check the technical specifications of the docking station, and ensure it can read 4Kn drives.

SATA hard drive controllers require a feature called port multiplier to read more than one hard drive per SATA or eSATA port. The port multiplier feature is not standard on many SATA hard drive controllers.

If your computer is only recognizing one of your hard drives, you need to plug the eSATA cable into a SATA controller that includes the port multiplier feature. If none of your current hard drive controllers include this feature, you can add a hard drive controller that does support port multiplier in any available expansion slot (for example, PCI, PCI-Express, PCMCIA, CardBus, or ExpressCard). has hard drive controllers available that support the port multiplier feature. To view the hard drive controllers, click here:

If you have a hard drive controller card that does support the port multiplier feature but it is only reading one hard drive at a time, update the drivers of the hard drive controller. To find the most current drivers, click here:

When you troubleshoot issues with a hard drive dock or duplicator, there are some quick tests that you can complete to rule out potential problems. You can test to make sure that the following components are working correctly and are not the source of the issue:

  • IDE, SATA, and eSATA cables
  • Hard drives
  • Hard drive dock or duplicator

To test your setup components, try the following:

  • Use the cables, hard drives, and hard drive dock or duplicator in another setup to see if the problem is with the components or the setup.
  • Use a different cable, hard drive, and hard drive dock or duplicator in your setup to see if the problem persists. Ideally, you should test a component that you know works in another setup.

When you test the hard drive and hard drive dock or duplicator, it is recommended that you do the following:

Note: For a hard drive duplicator you may need to switch the device to PC mode (if available).

  1. To check Disk Management, press the Windows key + R, type diskmgmt.msc, and press Enter. Check to see if your hard drive is listed.
  2. Do one of the following:
  • If the hard drive is listed with unallocated space, the hard drive needs to be reformatted. Right-click unallocated and click New Simple Volume. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reformatting.

Note: Formatting a hard drive erases all of the data on it. Make sure that you back up all of your data before you reformat the hard drive.

  • If the hard drive is listed as healthy but does not have a drive letter, for example, C:, right-click healthy and click Change Drive Letter and Paths. Click Add, assign a drive letter, and click OK.

Note: A formatted hard drive will not show up in Computer or My Computer until it has a drive letter assigned to it.

This docking station allows the hard drive to enforce its own power state, as opposed to enforcing a power state that keeps the hard drive active at all times. Since most newer hard drives have low-power energy conservation modes, this will cause the hard drive to enter an idle state if it is not used for a certain amount of time.

You do not need to format your target hard drive before you begin to duplicate it, because the target hard drive is automatically overwritten during the duplication process.

The hard drive duplicator copies the exact partition from the source drive to the target drive. Since it is required that you use a target drive that is equal or larger in size than the source drive a portion of the target drive appears as free space. You can append free space to the live partition on the target drive so that the full size of the drive can be utilized.

Note: A partition cannot be extended on an operating system drive that is in use. You must extend the partition when it not being used by the operating system, and ideally when it is still connected to the duplicator.

Extend a partition on a computer running Windows

Note: Do not extend a System Reserved partition. Only extend the primary partition, which is typically the largest in size and formatted with NTFS or FAT32.

After you have successfully duplicated a drive and the target drive is still connected to your computer system (for example, through the duplicator), complete the following:

  1. Press the Windows key + R.
  2. Type compmgmt.msc and click Ok.
  3. In Computer Management, on the left side of the screen, click Disk Management.
  4. Find the target drive. It will most likely be at the bottom of the list, have a partition that is the same size as the source drive, and have an unallocated area on the drive.
  5. On the target drive, right-click the last partition on the right side of the screen and click Extend Volume.
  6. In the Extend Volume wizard, click Next. By default, the remaining drive area is the amount of space used.
  7. Click Next > Finish.

The primary partition on the drive now uses the entire drive area. hard drive duplicators only read from the source drive and only write to the target drives while in standalone duplication mode .  A duplication that fails or halts will not cause a problem with the source drive.

You can use this device to duplicate an internal hard drive with the stand alone duplicator function if you remove the hard drive from the computer and connect it directly to this device.

How To

It is not possible to duplicate from a larger drive to a smaller one.  The capacity of the target drive must be equal to or greater than that of the source drive.

To confirm that the Mac OS detects your USB device, complete the following:

  1. Click the Apple icon.
  2. Click About This Mac.
  3. Click More Info or System Report.
  4. Under the appropriate heading, confirm that your USB device is listed and that there isn't an error. For example, a network card would be under Ethernet Cards.

You may need to refresh the System Information page after you plug in your device.  To do so, press Command R with the System Information page open.

Your USB device is listed according to the name of the chipset. To determine the name of the chipset of your USB device, navigate to and look on the Technical Specifications tab for your product.

Before You Buy

Some old hard drives (often low capacity as well) may not work because they use an old IDE standard not supported by the duplicator.  Use a newer drive to determine if the duplicator works or if the drive is not compatible. hard drive and flash drive duplicators perform a sector by sector copy, which means that the target drive must be the exact same size (down to the sector) or larger than the hard drive or flash drive that is being copied. During a sector by sector copy, each individual sector is copied over to the target drive, regardless of whether or not any data is present. A 500 GB hard drive with 50 GB of data on it will take the same amount of time to copy as a 500 GB hard drive with 450 GB of data on it.

If you have two hard drives or flash drives that are listed as the same size but are different makes or models, you need to check how large both drives are down to the sector to ensure that the target drive is the exact same size or larger.

Solid-state drives (SSDs) use SATA connectors to access power and transfer data. Any duplicator that can copy to or from SATA hard drives will work with a duplicator.

Note: If you use a dock to duplicate SSDs, keep in mind that the disk duplicators execute a sector by sector read and write. SSDs are rated by a number of reads and writes. Repeated duplication and sector by sector reads and writes of SSDs can reduce the life cycle of the drive.

Software-level encryption on the drive poses no issue to duplicators, as the duplicators copy encrypted data sector by sector over to the new drive.

Hardware-level encryption or BIOS level hard drive locks cause the duplication to halt and fail, as the drive is unable to read or write the sectors that are encrypted.

Duplication of Hidden Protected Area (HPA) Partitions or Extended Industry Standard Architecture (EISA) cause the duplicator to halt and fail, as the drive cannot read and write the protected partitions on the drive.

Note: Our UNIDUPDOCK, SATDOCK22RE and SATDOCK4U3RE do include the ability to copy HPA partitions, but the duplication is still dependent on how the HPA partition is written to the hard drive, whether or not it is encrypted and how it is encrypted. duplicators were not designed to recover failing or damaged drives. If the duplicator encounters a corrupt or unreadable sector, the duplication halts and fails.  If the source drive has bad sectors, use the Read Error Skip feature if your model of duplicator has it; however, if there are too many errors, it may still halt and fail even with this feature. If this happens, you will need third-party recovery software or custom-built recovery hardware to copy from a failing or damaged drive.

To determine if your hard drive will work in this device, on the product page, click the Technical Specifications tab, and do the following:

  • Make sure that the device supports the storage size of your hard drive. If the storage size of your hard drive is larger than what the device was tested with, the hard drive will likely still work with the enclosure.
  • Confirm that your hard drive uses the same interface type as the device. For example, IDE, SATA, or M.2.
  • Make sure that the device supports the physical size of your hard drive, such as 2.5 inches or 3.5 inches.
  • Verify that the power consumption of your hard drive doesn’t exceed the power output of the device. If you’re using multiple hard drives, make sure that the combined power consumption of all of the hard drives doesn’t exceed the power output of the docking station.

Hard Drives

Windows 10

Before you can access a new or formatted drive in your operating system, you need to initialize it first and then create a partition on the drive. A partition defines an area of the drive to use for storing data. The partition uses a file system (for example, ex-FAT, NTFS, and so on).

Initialize a drive

Note: You typically only need to initialize a drive if the drive is new. If you cannot find an uninitialized drive in Disk Management, skip the following steps and try to partition your device.

  1. Press the Windows key + R, type compmgmt.msc, and click Run to open Computer Management.

  2. Navigate to Disk Management.

  3. When prompted to, initialize your disk(s). If you are running Windows® 7 or later and are using a drive larger than 2TB, initialize the disk(s) with GPT. If you are running an earlier version of Windows, initialize the disk(s) with MBR. For more information, visit the following FAQ:

  4. Click OK.

Create a partition in a drive

Note: The following steps create an NTFS partition that uses the entire drive space. To use a different file system, select a different option in step 6.

  1. Right-click Unallocated or RAW volume, and select New Simple Volume.

  2. In the New Partition Wizard, click Next.

  3. Select Primary partition.

  4. Leave the partition size set to default, and click Next.

  5. Assign a drive letter or leave it set to the default, and click Next.

  6. Enter the following settings to format the partition:

  • In the File System field, enter NTFS.
  • Set the Allocation unit size to Default.
  • In the Volume label field, enter <your name/reference>.
  • Select the Perform a quick format check box.
  • Clear the Enable file and folder compression check box.
  1. Click Next > Finish.

The new drive should appear in Windows Explorer.

Mac OS

Before you can access a new or formatted drive in your operating system, you need to initialize it first and then create a partition on the drive. A partition defines an area of the drive to use for storing data. The partition uses a file system (for example, HFS+, ex-FAT, NTFS, and so on).

Initialize a drive

Mac OSX detects a drive that needs to be initialized and automatically prompts you to initialize the drive. If you are prompted to initialize the drive, click Initialize. If you are not prompted to initialize the drive and you cannot find the drive in Finder, you will need to create a partition on the drive.

Create a partition on a drive

Note: The following steps create an HFS+ (Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) partition that uses the entire drive space.

To create a partition on a new drive, complete the following:

  1. Open Finder.

  2. Navigate to Applications and click Utilities.

  3. Open Disk Utility.

  4. Select the new drive and click the Partition tab.

  5. Click Options and verify that it is set to GUID Partition Table.

  6. Enter a name for the partition.

  7. Click Partition.

The drive should now be accessible in Finder.

Cheap, doesn't work

By: meagant - 08/29/2015
Just got this today, pulled it out the box, plugged in a hard drive, and noticed the following: 1. You CAN'T TURN THIS OFF with the power button. 2. The copy light stays on no matter what you do! The only way I can turn this thing off is pull the power, and I CAN'T turn off the blue copy button, which is stupid because it would be very easy to have two drives in the unit that you don't want to copy and by accident hit the third button and end up erasing a drive you never had any intention to erase. BAD DESIGN, POOR EXECUTION

Hello Meagan, Thank you for taking the time to review our SDOCK2U33RE docking station as we value feedback and are always looking for ways to improve the products we offer. I would like to help by clarifying some of the functionality of this model of dock. For the power button, it is only used to power the connected hard drives on or off and will control the power of both the HDD1 and HDD2 slots at the same time. Please be sure to press and hold the power button to power off the disks as a quick press will not activate the button. Is the power button able to control the power state of the connected drives? With this model of dock the “PC/Copy” LED will always be on and will show which mode the docking station is in. With the LED being blue it shows that the dock is currently in the “PC” mode which is the default setting. While in this mode the dock will be unable to copy or erase a drive as a safety measure to ensure the drive in the destination slot (HDD1) will not be accidentally erased by pressing the Start button. To perform a duplication please press and hold the PC/copy button for 3 seconds until the LED turns red and then press the Start button to begin the duplication. We are always here to help with our free lifetime technical support. If this did not resolve your issue, please get in touch with us and reference case #332-273207 so we can further assist you.

Sanity Saver

By: lonerock - 02/18/2016
As an old IT retired guy I had my PC loaded with windows 10 and years of stuff I wanted to keep and I had Win 10 backup with .Iso file . A malware attack and my data is toast so I think no problem, I have a backup on an external drive with Win 10 .iso. I tried to use the Win 10 iso fiie and could not get the thing to work it continues to error out about 20 min. into the process. I ask for help from the young guys I left and find that they had the same problem. Now back at Win 8.1 until win 10 backup is more solid. the young guys recommended a Sdock2U33RE so far GREAT. Nice stuff but little bit slow

By: Konstantin - 05/31/2016
Its nice if you works with HDDs and SSDs. Just plug in and done. You can see all the data of multiple HDDs and copy them between them. I'm satisfied. But about duplication, it is a little slower that i was thinking. Did clone HDD to another one of 500 GBs and its took about 2 with half hours... If i was using some desktop with 2 disks, both connected over SATA III, it was going be done in 30 minutes. So, its good for duplication when you what to make 2 clicks and start duplicate and going to deal with another things, but not for extreme fast cloning. (If you planning to deploy large environments, or class room).

Does what they say!

By: AnkorJuglor - 11/29/2016
I bought this little box some time ago now when I needed to replace a HDD which had become too cluttered with all my photos. I bought at the same time a Seagate Hybrid Hdd/SSD of 1TB. Stuck both drives in the unit as instructed, switched on and in no time at all I had cloned the 1TB Hybrid with all my data, put it into my laptop and was back on with my toes hardly touching the ground!!!

Easy to use Duplicator Dock

By: Tazbier3 - 12/30/2016
When typing in the part number to review the dock I also saw the other options Startech makes like the 4 bay Hard Drive docking station. The information panel on the Drive is easy to use and well thought out. Showing source and target and what percent is done. On the outside of the white box packaging, I saw a label VI so my guess is this is the 6th generation of the Duplicator and improvements have been made each time the Duplicator was redesigned and engineered. The rubber feet on the bottom are a nice addition so it will not slide even on a slightly inclined surface.

SATA Duplicator Dock Made Easy

By: James H - 01/03/2017
I have been in the technology business for over 35 years and for the past 20+ years I have been asked to provide unbiased reviews of various products from both the AV and IT world. In review of this product I have found that it works with both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA Drives as well as HDD and SSD. The unit works with Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008 R2/7/8/8.1 both 32/64 bit as well as Apple Mac OS 9.x/10 Chrome OS and Linux. The ease of use was well thought through, simply plug in the drives, a couple of clicks and the unit does the rest. The overall speed is just a bit slower than expected but in the balancing act of speed, ease of use and cost, I give this product an excellent review in walking that line. In the box: -SATA HDD Duplicator Dock -USB 3.0 Cable -eSATA Cable -Universal Power Adapter (NA/UK/EU) -Instruction Manual I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

Simple and Easy

By: Starr - 01/19/2017
If you are looking for a solution that is very simple and easy to implement then this SATA Duplicator Dock is what you need. I had a laptop 2.5in hard drive that had some back sectors on it so I needed a way to duplicate the data to a new drive. I had never used this device before but it was as simple as taking it out of the box, plugging in the power cord, inserting the 2 drives and then pushing Power, Copy, Start. With a 22GB per minute copy throughput this did not take long to complete. Once finished I installed the new hard drive into the laptop and it booted up into the operating system and has worked since. I also tested out the USB docking feature by plugging it into my MacBook Pro and all of the partitions on the old hard drive were available including the laptop recovery image partition. And once again it was as simple as pushing the Power button because this unit defaults to the PC docking mode.

Good product - works as advertised

By: ABThompsons - 01/24/2017
This product includes the docking station, USB 3.0 cable, eSATA cable, and power adapters The encasement is bulking looking and not a modern looking design. The unit has 2 drive bays which can be used to clone a 2.5 in. or 3.5 in. hard drive without a host computer. Note that it duplicates the entire drive and you cannot be selective by partitions. The two bays are labeled HDD1 and HDD2. I think it would have been be safer to label the bays source and destination so there is no confusion when cloning drives. There is an indicator on the unit which shows the percentage completed when cloning drives. Approximate time to clone a 500GB HD was just a little over 1 hour. When using the unit as a docking station, I could only get it to recognize one drive at a time even though following the instructions precisely. As advertised, this unit easily clones drives and can be used as a docking station for an external hard drive. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

Does exactly what it says

By: Andrew11 - 02/01/2017
This is a great device for cloning HDDs/SSDs for upgrades. Take the time to read the manual; there aren’t a lot of buttons and it takes a bit of planning your first time out. I took some old data drives to try out first, just to get the hang of the process. I’ve now done HDD to HDD upgrades, and HDD to SSD without issue. This will undoubtedly find a place in my IT toolbox from now on. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review

Wrt duplication: Do the two hard drives have to be of the same size? This would limit the application - most times one likes to copy the content of a smaller hard drive to a larger hard drive. If different sizes are supported: Does the destination hard drive has to be at least as large as the source hard drive? Or is the amount of date on the source drive checked - if there is not much data on it, a smaller destination hard drive might be sufficient as well.

Essential tool for any IT person

By: NickD_CA2 - 02/05/2017
I have been using this product for a few weeks now to duplicate drives and connect drives to my computer via USB. So far everything has been working well. I have used this device with many different sizes, types and brand of drives. The duplicator came with USB and eSATA cables for the computer as well as power adapter with ends for multiple countries. The cables are only about 1 meter, which I wish were longer, but I could purchase new ones if it becomes an issue. I have purchased the SAT2IDEADP separately so that I could also connect some old IDE drives (works flawlessly with this). I keep the quick guide handy to reminded me what each of the blinking lights means and for double checking before starting copy operations. You can connect two drives at the same time while connected to the computer using USB and both disks show up on the computer. This allows for picking and choosing which data to copy between two disks as well as multitasking between different tasks. The data transfer is very fast over USB 3.0 and keeps up with the expected disk speed. I have not tested using eSATA as I don't have this port on any of my devices. In Windows 10 with USB connected, there is no setup required. Just plug it in, turn it on and when a disk is connected it immediately pops up in Windows ready for use. Disk duplication is pretty fast (not fantastic but close), but I like that my computer isn't needed and I can leave it to run overnight or while I do other tasks. This is an essential tool for any person task with supporting desktop or laptop computers. I use this device for disk backups, file recovery, drive migrations, disk upgrades, off-line disk access, wiping disks and many other troubleshooting tasks. One wish (not a deal breaker): After I duplicate a drive I have to wipe the original. This requires a connected computer with appropriate software and hours continuous operation. If this option were available it would be beyond excellent. The device is very solid and doesn't move around the desk when the disks are being used. The case is made of plastic but the internals and eject mechanisms are sturdy metal. I expect this product will last a long time and looks very professional when on my desk. So far I am very happy with this product and will continue to use it often. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

Good for the price

By: Luis - 02/27/2017
I got this From Startech to test and I'm impressed with the product based on the price. It took a while to get it working but after I followed all the instructions,I got it going and the only thing I didn't like was the time it takes to clone 1TB hard drive if I compare to Startech UNIDUPDOCK which is a little bit more money and faster. If you are looking for a duplicator and doesn't need a fast job then this is the product you want. Disclaimer "I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review"

Duplicates hard drives in no time!

By: sgto416 - 09/14/2017
At work we have had some people using laptops that were using 5400 and 7200RPM hard drives and with how economical solid state drives are these days the upgrade for the productivity gains of endusers just makes sense! Depending on how much data is on a hard drive I have cloned drives in as little of 12 minutes and some have taken 25 minutes. The SDOCK2U33RE eSATA / USB 3.0 Hard Drive Duplicator Dock is easy to use and a must for all IT departments! I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

Thank you for reviewing our SDOCK2U33RE, we are sorry to hear it is not working well for you. First, please ensure the USB cable is not connected and the docking station is set to duplication mode by pressing the PC/Copy Mode button for 3 seconds until the mode LED is set to red. It may take up to 10 seconds for each drive to be ready. Please wait for both the drive LEDs to become blue before attempting a copy. Additionally, please ensure the source drive is a smaller capacity than the destination or the copy will not be able to start. We would like to assist in troubleshooting the issue with you. We can even replace it under its 2-year warranty if needed. Please contact our support available 24 hours a day 5 days a week at 1 800 265 1844 or A member of our team will also be reaching out directly to provide support.

Dead out of box. Let’s see what their support does

By: JoeTroi - 01/06/2019
I was excited to get a new one. Had the older model for years but this one arrived dead. Could be the power adapter or the mb. Idk. Going to see what hoops I have to go thru with their support. If they send out a new one without me having to send this back first, then I’ll change my review.

Will not clone correctly

By: tekeek - 02/20/2019
Our company has purchased about a dozen and neither will clone our drives to where they will boot and if they do it BSOD after a bit or system errors start popping up and also Outlook breaks in some cases. We turned around and used an older and a newer Kanuru to clone those same drives and they work flawlessly other than re-activate Office and that was in both cases. Mgmt is working with support to return devices.

We're sorry that SDOCK2U33RE hasn't worked well for you. This duplicator is not capable of copying a Host Protected Area (HPA), so if your drives feature this, SDOCK2U33RE may not be able to produce a bootable clone. In this case, we recommend using a duplicator such as our UNIDUPDOCK which is capable of duplicating a drive's HPA. We'd be happy to talk further about this and help get a working solution in your hands. To reach us, go to We're available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, to provide support.

Super fast and Easy to Use

By: Humby_G - 10/11/2019
We bought this unit to clone our office PC hard drives before they start to crash and some that started to act up. After cloning a number of drives, we have had no issues. Cloned WinXP, then Win 7 and Win8 and now a few Win10 systems. Keep up the good work.

Documentation needs updating

By: jackie28 - 11/15/2019
I'm trying to clone a drive. HDD2 shows Blue and a flashing Red. HDD1 shows flashing Red only, no Blue. Manual doesn't say what this means... Serves purpose as dock, not as clone.

We're sorry to hear about the LED issues you're having when trying to clone with our SDOCK2U33RE. If the Blue LED on HDD1 is also off when the dock is connected to a PC, then this may be a simple problem of a faulty LED on the dock and we'd be happy to help get this fixed for you. However, if the blue LED is working properly when the SDOCK2U33RE is connected to the PC in PC mode, then it could indicate an issue with one of the drives when you're trying to clone. Please feel free to contact us at if you require assistance getting this working properly. Our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.

Waste of time and money

By: DerekC - 08/29/2021
I bought this for the purpose of cloning hard disk. i.e. migration from tradition hard disk to SSD thinking that hardware cloning probably faster and more reliable than using opensource software like Clonesilla. And I am so wrong. The same drive pair with Clonesilla, it took about 15 minutes or less to complete the cloning whereas with this hardware, eventually I had to unplug its power to interrupt cloning after 3 hours which still sits on 50%. As a test afterwards, I tried clone the two replace hard disk using the device and it stuck on 50% even after 15 hours.

We are sorry to hear that you experienced difficulty with this Drive Duplicator Dock. The SDOCK2U33RE performs a sector by sector duplication, which results in an identical clone of the source drive. Please note that the duplication can halt if a sector on the source drive is unreadable to the duplicator. One of our technical advisors will be reaching to gather information about your setup, and see if we can help resolve the issue you are seeing.
