This multi-input converter switch lets you connect your DisplayPort (DP), HDMI® and VGA audio/video sources to one HDMI display or projector. The switch enables you to automatically or manually switch between your video sources and features built-in signal conversion, which eliminates the cost and hassle of using additional adapters for the sake of compatibility.
This versatile A/V switch supports video resolutions up to 1920x1200 (1080p) on your VGA source and up to 4K at 30 Hz on your DisplayPort and HDMI video sources. For a tidy, professional installation, the converter switch includes mounting hardware.
The A/V switch features built-in HDMI conversion, so you can connect two HDMI sources as well as a VGA and a DisplayPort video source to the same HDMI display, without having to use additional adapters or scalers.
The converter switch ensures hassle-free operation, with two different auto-switching modes: auto-detect switching, which detects and selects a newly connected device, or priority selection, which lets you choose which port should be activated by default for automatic switching. The converter switch is perfect for digital signage applications where an automatic switch can replace a failed source with a secondary input to avoid embarrassing video outages.
This versatile A/V switch has been designed with the boardroom and classroom in mind, with HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort inputs to support a wide range of devices, and a built-in converter that makes it easy to connect to the room’s display without having to connect additional adapters. Plus, automatic switching encourages on-the-fly collaboration among students or co-workers, by making it so easy to share a projector or other display device between multiple sources.
The video switch maintains Ultra HD 4K picture quality while switching between content from HDMI and DisplayPort source devices, including Blu-ray™ players and DVD players, computer systems, video game consoles, digital cable and satellite boxes and A/V receivers.
4K video support ensures a higher level of image clarity and visibility, delivering four times the resolution of 1080p -- 8.29 million pixels versus 2.07 million pixels. It offers a more engaging visual experience for audiences in a wide range of venues, including conference centers, boardrooms, educational facilities, and commercial settings.
When connecting a VGA source, the switch supports high-definition resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. With its exceptional resolution and image quality, this switch is ideal for bringing your digital signage to life.
The HDVGADP2HD is TAA compliant and backed by a 2-year StarTech.com warranty and free lifetime support.

Live Chat (opens in new window)This device is plug and play. It does not use any drivers, and does not require any setup tasks other than plugging in the source (for example, a computer) and the destination (for example, a monitor).
Try the following:
The error “Out of Range” normally means that the resolution being output by the computer is not compatible with the display. Try lowering the resolution to see if that helps resolve the issue. You may need to connect another monitor or restart the computer or source to accomplish this.
When you troubleshoot issues with a video splitter, there are some quick tests that you can complete to rule out potential problems. You can test to make sure that the following components are working correctly and are not the source of the issue:
Video cables
Video switch
Video source (such as a DVD player or computer)
Video destination (such as a monitor or projector)
Note: When you are testing setup components, you should avoid using video adapters. For example, if you are converting a VGA source to HDMI for use with an HDMI switch, you should use an HDMI source when you test the components.
To test your setup components, try the following:
Use the cable, video switch, video source, and video destination in another setup to see if the problem is with the components or the setup.
Use a different cable, video switch, video source, and video destination in your setup to see if the problem persists. Ideally, you should test a component that you know works in another setup.
When you test your cables, it is recommended that you do the following:
Test each cable individually.
Use short cables when you are testing.
When you test the video source and video destination, it is recommended that you do the following:
Remove the video switch from your setup and test to make sure that the video source and video destination work together without the video switch.
Test to make sure that the video source and video destination work together at the resolution that you want to use.
Note: In order for your setup to work properly, the video source, switch, and destination all need to support the resolution that you are using.
