The StarTech.com fan alarm alerts you when a fan it is connected to slows down considerably or stops working, potentially saving expensive components like CPUs from damage due to overheating. A distinctive audible chime starts playing that cannot be mistaken for any other computer sound. The unit supports the newer TX3 connector fans that have a built-in tachometer.
