Overview
This DisplayPort signal booster lets you increase the signal strength of your DP video source using standard DisplayPort cables. You can achieve resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz, and depending on your desired resolution, the booster supports varying distances up to 65 ft. (20 m) away at 1080p 60Hz resolution. For inline installations, you can place the booster between two DisplayPort cables, up to 50 ft. in length at the video input, and up to 15 ft. in length at the video output.
Maintains Ultra HD 4K video signals
When extending DisplayPort over long distances using standard video cabling, higher resolutions can become unavailable. Using the DP signal booster ensures that you can depend on UHD resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz at up to 22 ft. (7 m). You can achieve even greater distances with lower resolution support -- up to 4K at 30Hz, at up to 42 ft. (13 m), and 1080p at 60Hz at up to 65 ft. (20 m).
Easy and discreet installation
With its small form factor, the DisplayPort booster is easy to hide, for a discreet installation. It includes mounting hardware, so installing it is hassle-free. By extending your video signal using standard DP cables, the DisplayPort booster is a cost-effective alternative to more expensive extension systems that require the installation of a CAT5 or CAT6 cabling infrastructure.
Compatible with varying distances
The booster makes it easy to adjust your DisplayPort signal strength based on the distance of your cables, with equalization adjustment buttons. This means that you can adjust the amplification of your DisplayPort signal, to ensure your DisplayPort signal will be flawless even at distances up to 65 ft. (20 m). Support for varying distances makes the booster perfect for multi-device deployment across large institutions, such as boardrooms in corporate offices, classrooms in schools, or waiting rooms in hospitals, as these applications may require varied distances in different rooms.
The DPBOOST is TAA compliant and backed by a 2-year StarTech.com warranty with free lifetime technical support.
Applications
Avoid the time and expense of running network cabling to extend video signals, using this booster with standard DisplayPort cables
Boost the signal strength of your DisplayPort video signals for classroom, office or boardroom displays

Troubleshooting
When you troubleshoot issues with a video extender, there are some quick tests that you can complete to rule out potential problems. You can test to make sure that the following components are working correctly and are not the source of the issue:
-
Video and Ethernet cables
-
Video extender
-
Video source (such as a DVD player or computer)
-
Video destination (such as a monitor or projector)
Note: When you are testing setup components, you should avoid using video adapters. For example, if you are converting a VGA source to HDMI for use with an HDMI extender, you should use an HDMI source when you test the components.
To test your setup components, try the following:
-
Use the cable, video extender, video source, and video destination in another setup to see if the problem is with the components or the setup.
-
Use a different cable, video extender, video source, and video destination in your setup to see if the problem persists. Ideally, you should test a component that you know works in another setup.
When you test your cables, it is recommended that you do the following:
-
Test each cable individually.
-
Use short cables when you are testing.
When you test the video source and video destination, it is recommended that you do the following:
-
Remove the video extender from your setup and test to make sure that the video source and video destination work together without the video extender.
-
Test to make sure that the video source and video destination work together at the resolution that you want to use.
Note: In order for your setup to work properly, the video source, extender, and destination all need to support the resolution that you are using.

If a DisplayPort converter with audio is not passing sound from the source to the destination, complete the following:
- Make sure that the DisplayPort connection on the video card is the default audio playback device.
- Make sure that the video card has the DisplayPort audio codec installed. If not, visit the video card manufacturer's website to find out how to update the video card driver.

To output 4K to a DisplayPort display at 30Hz, your monitor must support the resolution and refresh rate. If your monitor also supports 4K at 60Hz (DP 1.2 or higher), you may also need to set the monitor to work at 30Hz.
To resolve this issue, use the buttons on your monitor to change the DisplayPort settings to DP1.1. For more information about how to change your monitor settings, refer to the website of the manufacturer of your monitor.
